What to do with
White goods
If you are replacing your fridge, freezer, cooker, washing machine or dishwasher there are several ways you can dispose of it. Take a look below at some of the options.
Items in working order can be re-used
If you have an electrical item that is still in good working condition, consider the following options:
- Check to see if your council offers a service for re-use.
- Some charity shops or furniture re-use organisations accept donations of white goods and many offer collection services.
- A simple repair could give an item a new lease of life and save you money too. Check whether it might be easy and cheap for an expert to make the repair for you or search online for guides to making simple repairs or to check such as www.ifixit.com and www.espares.co.uk.
How to recycle white goods
Often shops will collect your unwanted electricals when they deliver your new one - especially larger items like TVs, fridges and freezers.
Alternatively you can take them to your local household waste recycling centre or check to see if your council offers a household recycling collection for bulky electricals.
